Sustainability Message from the Director

Director Shin Kotaki

In recent years, interest in global environmental problems and social issues has been growing and initiatives for sustainability have become essential for companies.

When formulating our sustainability strategy, we specified the 11 key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues Nissan Shatai should tackle (materiality), and we are tackling them in our business activities in order to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Regarding the environment, in addition to our existing efforts for the effective utilization of resources and waste reduction, we will also work to achieve our medium-term goal for 2030 of realizing carbon neutral as a response to climate change, by further raising the awareness of energy-saving of each and every employee and by advancing hardware measures such as converting all lighting to LEDs, including in the plants, and introducing V2B (Vehicle-to-Building) and renewable energy, etc.

Regarding initiatives for society, based on the Nissan Shatai policy of “valuing people,” we are aiming to leverage corporate capabilities to the fullest extent through the employees and the company growing together and the vibrant utilization of people with a wide range of values. We will advance the practice of health management and improve the environment for nursing care and childcare support, etc. in order to promote the utilization of diverse human resources.

Furthermore, we will aim to be a company open to the local community, and through collaboration with local governments, schools, etc. we will make contributions to local society.

We advocate a “sustainable corporate foundation” in the 2023-2027 Medium-term Management Plan and we are actively promoting business activities which have sustainability as a central focus. Moreover, we are cooperating with all of our stakeholders to work on the realization of a sustainable society.
