The vehicle-manufacturing plant of Nissan Shatai Kyushu, which started full-fledged operations in January 2010, incorporates all the best elements of car-making in the Nissan Group. It also incorporates "Alliance Production Way(APW)" to produce high-quality vehicles efficiently and to deliver them to our customers in a timely fashion.
The plant produces five models: "Caravan" commercial-use van, "Elgrand" minivan for the domestic market, "Patrol" SUV - for the Middle East market, INFINITI "QX80" premium SUV and "Armada" full-size SUV for the North American market. The rise of the emerging markets is likely to continue to drive strong growth in demand for LCV (light commercial vehicles) and so we need the type of specialized knowhow able to handle the development and production of the durable and diverse vehicles this market requires. Nissan Shatai has built up its knowledge base and made progress with the technology in this area through the development and production of a large number of LCV vehicles including its Caravan and NV200 Vanette models and with the global developmental support of Nissan, and its role as mother plant, it continues to play its part in maintaining the traditions of Japanese manufacturing.
In all its activities, Nissan Shatai works to build up a structure that keeps the environment in mind and is rooted in the Nissan Group's vision of 'Symbiosis of people, vehicles and nature' and, whilst striving to build cars that are good for people, society and nature, we have achieved success in many different areas with the environmental policies we have built into our production processes and other operations.
In response to the harm done to the global environment by vehicle emissions, Nissan Shatai is ensuring its developmental activities reduce its burden on the environment by improving the fuel efficiency, lowering the exhaust emissions and promoting the recycling of the vehicles we produce. Making our vehicle bodies lighter is just one example of the ways in which we are making the most of the technologies we have developed at Nissan Shatai.
Making cars needs energy and consuming this energy causes CO2 emissions. Nissan Shatai strives to raise the level of energy efficiency in every stage of its production process and also to reduce the volume of waste products it generates.
