NISSAN SHATAI, which takes part in the manufacture of the vehicles of NISSAN MOTOR, is an automobile manufacturer with a production capacity of 300,000 vehicles/year. NISSAN SHATAI produces 12 NISSAN models, serving as one of the plants of NISSAN MOTOR. NISSAN SHATAI is a world's exceptional multi-model medium/small-volume automobile production plant.
Based on the aforementioned background, NISSAN SHATAI is challenging the following major themes as our policies to be pursued.
1. "Establishment of flexible production system"
2. "Multi-model mixed production"
3. "Short-period development of new products" - a task common to Development Division

Flexible production system
Fluctuation of monthly/daily production volume caused by the recent variation of the demands and increased production volume at the time of putting a new model into the market is giving negative influences on the production efficiency. In recent years, such fluctuation tends to occur more and more frequently due to the changes in customers' needs, market trend, and so on.

In order to overcome these problems, NISSAN SHATAI is trying to cope with such situations flexibly by promoting the following three themes for the purpose of eliminating the load imbalance among the plants caused by the production volume variations and the load imbalance caused by the daily fluctuations in the component ratio among produced vehicle models.
1) Introduction of the production facilities/production system capable of coping with the fluctuation in the production volume
2) Introduction of highly versatile line production facilities
3) Coping with the daily fluctuation in the component ratio among produced vehicle models
(Provision of such facilities as will not impose any restriction on the sequence, etc. of the vehicle models on the production line)
Multi-model mixed production

Since multi-model medium/small-volume production is the main stream of NISSAN SHATAI, our proposition is how efficiently utilize our limited land and buildings for our production activities. Therefore, we have determined to outgrow from a mere mixed production of plural number of vehicle models and aim at achieving more advanced mixed production.

・ Multi-model mixed production line which can accommodate various models ranging from compact cars to large one-box cars
・ Dramatic improvement of production efficiency by means of the concentrated production
・ Further effective use of land and buildings

We have decided to aim at introducing the production facilities/production system which will allow the three themes stated above.
These themes will surely help constructing our production facilities/production system for "realization of the world's most advanced multi-model medium/small-volume automobile production plant".
