Utilization of 3D data in performance analysis
Thanks to the 3D data created by the Design staff, we can build an analysis model equipped with main parts at an early stage.
3D data of the completed vehicle has helped us to substantially shorten the time required for building an analysis model.
In the past, a collision test involved crashing of dozens of costly prototypes under various conditions such as collision angle, vehicle speed and barrier. 3D-CAD allows us to implement a test using a new vehicle over and over again. That has resulted in a significant reduction in time and cost.
In a 3D-CAD wind tunnel test, invisible airflow can be displayed as lines of different colors for easier recognition.
Even a slight deformation of a vehicle body (bending and twisting) affecting the body rigidity or flows of hot air in the engine room can be displayed on a screen.
Performance analysis also includes ergonomics-based study of vehicle usability using simulated humans on the computer screen.
Collision analysis (Offset collision)
Aerodynamics analysis (Display of air flow) Analysis of vehicle body rigidity
Analysis of shift knob usability Analysis of heat flow in the engine room
